Professor of Mechanical Engineering
I have been the main advisor for the Cedarville University entry in the Solar Splash Competition. In 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011, the Lord graciously allowed us to win this competition. In 2006 we were runner-up both at Solar Splash in Fayetville, AK and in Class A of the Frisian Nuon Solar Challenge in Friesland, the Netherlands. In 2012, we were the top university in the Dong Energy Solar Challenge in the Netherlands where we competed in the Top Class (third place of all teams), and runner-up in Solar Splash. Twice we have received recongition by the Ohio Senate.
In 2012 I was invited to be the Dong Energy Solar Challange Ambassador in America.
On Honors Day in 2004, I was honored to receive the Faculty Member of the Year Award. All I can say is thank you. I can only do what I do at Cedarville as the Lord allows me; to Him be all the glory. To my wife Kim, and to all the children, none of this is possible without you. This award is as much for you as it is for me. I love you.
In 2012 I was awarded the 2012 Faculty Advisor Award.
In 2004 I was awarded the SOCHE Excellence in Teaching Award, and in 2009 I was recognized in Ohio Magazine's Excellence in Education edition.
Upon joining the Cedarville faculty I participated in a children's camp ministry at Camp Berea in New Hampshire. I have actually been involved with the camp since I was a child; I was a camper, worked on staff, got married at camp, have been on the board of directors. Up until 2003 I worked in whatever capacity was needed each summer.
Each autumn we have an Annual New England Day for all the Cedarville students from the New England states. Each year, we choose a different theme for the day; as follows:
