MUSIC: Charles Clevenger

I am never happier than when I’m performing for someone, and so the stage is a friendly place for me. I have a very real sense that performance is TO God first, then FOR my audience, and finally that it’s ABOUT the music, not about me. For that reason, I’m not bothered much by “stage fright;” I’m too busy worshipping God with my fingers, and trying to make the music convincing and enjoyable for my listeners.

In addition to my solo work, I have enjoyed collaborating with some amazing musicians, among whom Lori Aikens, Bruce Curlette, Mike DiCuirci, John Mortensen, Charlie Pagnard, and Beth Porter are currently colleagues of mine here at Cedarville.

I enjoy getting together with some of my colleagues and performing southern gospel music for appreciative audiences. Our gospel quartet, 4by Grace, recently won 7th place nationally at the National Quartet Convention’s quartet competition. There’s a video clip of our group below.

I also have an active sacred concert ministry, and travel all over the USA to minister in churches and Christian schools. If you’re interested in having me come to your church or school, click the “CONCERT INFO” button on this page.

Besides art music and sacred concerts, my rather eclectic tastes include the comedy concerts I’ve done with Jim Colman, currently Academic Vice-President of Oklahoma Baptist University. Jim and I are known for our zany onstage antics, including fractured classics in period costume, movie themes and Broadway tunes, and …well, you never know what. Expect anything from Bach to the Beach Boys … and beyond. You can see a video clip from one of our concerts by clicking on the “VIDEO” button below:
